DYLAN: Our goal is to just enjoy the countryside
while we're young.
We can travel with the jobs we have.
We don't miss this opportunity to do this.
AMY: Hi, I'm Amy.
DYLAN: And I'm Dylan.
AMY: And this is our tiny house.
DYLAN: Our house is 24 foot by eight and a half by 13 foot
tall.
AMY: We started off with what's called a shell.
So it was just a basic structure set on top of a trailer.
And we did everything else-- the siding, we did the roofing,
we did the insulation, the electric,
the plumbing, all the cabinetry, the walls, the floors.
It's definitely a labor of love.
So let us show you around a little bit.
The outside of our house kind of has
a unique design, where it's split in between two
different material.
It doesn't really serve a certain purpose.
We just like the way that it looked.
DYLAN: Our roof is a special material called [INAUDIBLE],,
which is actually an asphalt byproduct.
It's very DIY friendly.
And it's hurricane rated, which is very important to us.
Because our house is going down the highway
at 70 miles an hour sometimes.
For me, I absolutely needed this living room
to have a media center that I could come home to and relax
on the couch and watch TV.
So part of that was having a projector to save space.
The other thing was actually storing a lot of my electronics
up in that loft area.
As you can tell, we have this really high ceiling.
And it's great to hide all these different devices.
So to hide this away and keep Amy happy was a big deal.
And then over on this side, this is what you'd
call our dining room area.
This looks like a chalkboard.
But Amy built this so that it folds down.
And it's held up by two magnets that
keep the table up against the wall when we're moving.
In order to actually sit at the table,
we have to pull out chairs.
And then Amy can sit at the table to eat her dinner.
AMY: We do sometimes actually eat dinner together.
He was just saying that it's just me eating dinner.
[LAUGHS]
DYLAN: So off of our dining room is the kitchen area,
with this long countertop.
Most of our appliances are full-sized,
including the sink here.
The cabinet itself that this countertop is on top of,
Amy built herself.
Every single drawer slide, the painting, the handles--
everything was done by Amy.
So welcome to our bedroom.
Well, actually, it's Mama's bedroom.
We just sleep up here.
AMY: We have a full-sized bed up here, which
works fine for the three of us.
We took advantage of some of the wall space up here.
We've got my uke.
I have a little side table that I keep glasses and random
stuff at the end of the night.
We have outlets up here to charge our phones.
So it's everything we need in a space up here.
Also up here in the loft, we have
some more clothing storage.
So we have one basket up here that
kind of keeps my PJs and stuff.
But this serves a nice dual purpose.
It's a little half wall, so that we're not just going
to fall out of the loft here.
But then it also opens up, and we've got five cubbies in here
for more folded clothing.
DYLAN: This is the most private room in the entire house.
This is the bathroom.
There's plenty of space for a shower, for our toilet,
and, also, a sink with countertop space for Amy
to do her makeup and store toothbrushes
and things like that.
So the really, really unique thing about our tiny house
is that it's the only tiny house featuring a smart mirror.
And that is basically an Android tablet with a touch screen,
which allows you to look at the internet, see the weather,
check the traffic.
Everything that you can do with your phone or a tablet,
you can do with your own bathroom mirror.
