- Why was this too much?
RON FILIPKOWSKI: Well I watched the video
when she tweeted it out right after the incident happened.
And I just couldn't believe what I was seeing.
- Lifelong Republican Ron Filipkowski,
former vice chairman of the 12th circuit judicial nomination
committee in Florida, who resigned
Tuesday following a raid on a COVID data scientist.
Explained on Cuomo Prime Time Tuesday night why he did it.
Agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement
raided the home of Rebekah Jones on Monday.
And Filipkowski doesn't believe the raid was warranted.
RON FILIPKOWSKI: I saw what's happening
and I couldn't believe it.
Then I read the search warrant [INAUDIBLE]
and I'm a criminal lawyer.
And I couldn't believe what I was
reading in the search warrant.
About how broad it was, about what they were
alleging as a supposed crime.
- Filipkowski said the final straw
was when a spokesman for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
claimed that the governor had no prior knowledge of the raid.
RON FILIPKOWSKI: The idea that a small law enforcement agency
like F. Daily, which reports directly to the governor,
would do a raid like this on a high profile person,
without clearing it through the governor's office.
- Right.
RON FILIPKOWSKI: There-- there's just no way.
- DeSantis has long been suspected of misleading
the public about COVID-19.
And according to Filipkowski those suspicions are correct.
- Do you believe that your governor
has been dishonest about the COVID realities in your state?
RON FILIPKOWSKI: Yeah, absolutely.
No question about it.
